While waiting out the snow storm, Andrew started collecting very concerning symptoms:
Dizziness, shortness of breath, blue fingernails and lips and a terrible cough.
Visits to the local doctors confirmed our fears: he was going into pneumonia.
Later doctors visits and lab tests ruled out pneumonia but revealed a more serious problem:
Cardiac Insufficiency. His heart was not capable of sending enough blood (and oxygen) to his body.
After 3 days on an oxygen tank, we prayerfully made the decision for Andrew,
Egla and 3 kids to go to the border office at the Texas border.

While there, they could:
 A. Work on Andrew’s health. Doctors suggested that losing weight could help his condition.
 B. Take care of Grandma Lewis (92) who lives at the border address.
C. Manage the Border Office for Banner of Faith Ministries.
The Bible Institute teachers doubled classes to fill in the gap.
The Castillo church stepped in and committed several men
to preach in the two village works in Andrew’s stead.
The situation is not perfect.
It is NOT permanent.
But, it is necessary for the time being.
While at the US border, Andrew and Egla have been active in a small Baptist church near them. Andrew started a Youth Choir and fills in wherever needed.
He has lost 30 pounds in the last 2 months and plans to keep going
until he can return to his place of ministry.
Please pray for us! We want to serve the Lord wherever He places us.
But, we want to be home in Mexico as soon as possible to continue the work there.
Andrew is continuing with doctor’s visits and tests.
This has put a considerable financial strain on the family.
Thank you for praying!
